The purpose behind the user experience refactoring is:

• Simplify for usability -- reduce information overload

• Reflect the chief use cases of the product in the UI

  • Group related tasks together

  • Reorganize / eliminate unrelated elements

• Separate the administration of JON from the functional Tasks accomplished with JON 

With the above in mind, much of these changes involve not changing the functionality in JON but rearranging the functionality into more logical groupings, now that we have learned how the tool is being used. Changes to the top level menus and secondary tabs are aimed at reducing the contextual complexity and pushing information downward. At the tail end of these changes are the resource view changes to more easily capture contextual operations to the resource and eliminating the modal states in favor of modeless operation.
